During the virtual meeting 'The main projects of JLL for 2022: the resurgence of various sectors after Covid-19', Arturo Bañuelos, director of Projects and Developments of the firm, highlighted the growth that has been observed in various sectors of the real estate industry.

One of them is the industrial sector, which, despite the health crisis, has remained stable, resilient and with a growth trend; and especially the ships dedicated to the automotive industry.

“Without a doubt, the industrial sector was the one that surprised us, fortunately with a lot of work last year. For example, in terms of automotive parts that used to be produced in China or somewhere else, well (the United States) they want to have them closer because right now there is a huge problem with land and sea transportation.

Likewise, Bañuelos highlighted the growth of data centers, which has occurred thanks to the boom in electronic commerce since the arrival of Covid-19 in the country.

Another sector that has reported positive results is tourism, which includes hotels and outdoor entertainment; as well as the airport infrastructure. The JLL manager indicated that, at the end of 2021, levels similar to 2019, before the pandemic, were reached.

Finally, Bañuelos explained that the national office market has also registered growth in terms of occupation and demand, thanks to the gradual return of company personnel. And, in the same way, banks have shown a growth trend, and will continue to provide services in person and online.

“Without a doubt, the resurgence of the offices, which we have to do for the good of all. And, on the other hand, the banks continue to grow, they have to continue providing service and especially in the branches; people now want to go, they want to feel personally attended to, although the technological issue is also growing widely”, he explained.

The main trend in work spaces, given the health crisis, will be the well-being of company employees. Which has to do with guaranteeing the health and hygiene of all people; as well as having more attractive office spaces for employees, for example terraces

Similarly, the use of technology and the adoption of sustainable practices will be a trend this year; as well as inclusion and equity in companies.
