Microsoft prepares the installation of its new region of data centers that will be located in Querétaro and that will be the first in both Mexico and Latin America, in Spanish-speaking, in addition to being number 62 globally.

For the construction of this new unit, the firm has employed 1,000 people, confirmed the state government of Querétaro in a press release, after a tour of the company's headquarters

The meeting, between executives and state public servants, was to learn details of what the firm projects as the largest cloud in the world and to which the Querétaro data center region, known as Central Mexico, is integrated.

With the technology of this center, it will seek to optimize digital services, in terms of security, software and hardware.

The president and general director of Microsoft Mexico, Rafael Sánchez Loza, explained that the company operates more than 200 data centers worldwide and, with this project, it seeks to trigger a substantial transformation in the country.

Characteristics of connectivity, agility, resilience and intelligence open the doors for people and companies to develop their full potential, said the manager. This space will be the residence of the cloud of the main Microsoft solutions. It is expected to be a point for data processing for the financial, government and health sectors.

The objective is also to reach entrepreneurs, as well as small and medium-sized companies, through solutions in the field of artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, among other technologies.

Microsoft's new region will operate based on sustainable development goals, which is why it uses sustainable energy and cooling, as well as a water recycling system that is expected to return it to the environment.

Within the framework of its installation in the state, the firm developed a project together with UN-Habitat, generating a regional study that contemplates 18 recommendations in four points: social development and community strengthening; urban development and environmental sustainability; local economic development and employment; as well as inclusive planning and effective governance.
