LinkedIn increases its bet on the Mexican labor market

Mexico is one of the markets where LinkedIn has grown the fastest in Latin America. To take advantage of this momentum, the company decided to open its offices in Mexico with which it hopes to impact the more than 17 million users in the country, in addition to being closer to corporate clients and generating more content in Spanish to continue growing in the region. .

Although the social network's operations have been in Mexico for 10 years, Ramiro Luz, director of talent solutions for LinkedIn Mexico and Latin America, mentions that establishing its offices in Mexico City is important, because it is becoming a hub for the technology market.

"Mexico City is a way to explore the possibilities in the generation of content and a way to expand," he details in a conference, because from this position they have a greater focus on the production of the Spanish language not only in the country, but throughout the region.

Josh Graff, managing director of LinkedIn in Latin America and EMEA, also highlighted that this decision is based on helping members establish stronger working relationships, since they have 800 million users of the platform.

Although a figure was not mentioned regarding how much the company invested to open its offices, Graff described it as “significant”, in addition to keeping Mexico as the fastest-growing market in Latin America. Currently, the team has 32 employees and they hope to expand it in the coming weeks.

Graff commented that after the pandemic and the new work dynamics, it is important to establish new relationships, since people can now take their skills to different sectors and not only to those that they considered suitable.

In this sense, Milton Beck, general director of LinkedIn in Latin America, mentioned that the health emergency also brought changes in the relationships between professionals and employers, since the former became more selective in entering and staying in a job.

According to data from the Global Trends Report 2022, prepared by LinkedIn worldwide, there are three relevant trends in the world of work: the search for balance between work and personal activities, salary and benefits related to mental, physical and employees' financial situation, and, finally, the fear of losing their job, an issue related to the work culture.

With the establishment of LinkedIn in Mexico, Beck comments that companies have the opportunity to show who they are as employers, change the mentality to create work environments where professionals are listened to.
