As part of the logistics commitment and the economic reactivation plan for the country's capital, local authorities and businessmen presented the expansion of the DHL Express Hub in Mexico City, with an investment of more than 118 million pesos.
For the authorities of the CDMX government, one of the objectives to be met is to make the country's capital the most important point in logistics, so work is being done to provide facilities to companies in this sector.
As an example of the importance of this sector for the local economy, the Head of Government of CDMX, Sheinbaum Pardo indicated that the mail and storage transport sector represents 7% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of Mexico City.
In addition, only until May 2022 there is a record of 3,231 economic units in the city, with 37,443 jobs, being one of the sectors that grew the most during the pandemic process due to the growth of electronic commerce.

For his part, the CEO of DHL Express Mexico, Antonio Arranz, explained that with the expansion, the operational capacity to process the cargo volume grows, specifically with international shipments in Mexico City.
At the same time, the hours in the arrival of shipments for the process of receiving and releasing packages are reduced. and we are going to transfer the shipments”, he stressed.
In addition to strengthening the capacity to reach new international territories, Antonio Arranz highlighted that with this expansion operations with the southern region of the country are materialized, with destinations such as Cancun, Merida, Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Oaxaca and Puebla.

“We have several hubs, we know the Querétaro hub, which carries all part of the domestic flights, we have the hub in the north of Mexico City and this hub works like a puzzle. These three puzzles together make the strength for DHL to be able to deliver within 24 hours throughout the country and to be able to connect 220 countries and territories”, he added.
The investment of more than 118 million pesos is added to the more than 460 million that the company has allocated between 2020 and 2022 to strengthen the network of hubs, and to this is added that the business plan 2020-2026 of the company, contemplates an investment of more than 6,000 million pesos.
