Cuprum is the largest aluminum extrusion company in Latin America, founded in Nuevo León in 1948 and known for its products such as aluminum stairs and windows, but also for its profiles division for the automotive sector, which supplies aluminum profiles to a large number of Tier 1 companies.

In an interview with national media, the company reported that it intends to invest $100 million dollars to build three new aluminum extrusion plants in Nuevo León. The company confirmed that said investment would have already been approved by the company's board of directors for the next three years. The company's executive president, Eugenio Clariond Rangel, made the statement in Reforma.

Cuprum is currently evaluating three industrial parks considering whether they have optimal energy supply conditions, citing the municipalities of Santa Catarina or Apodaca as probable locations. The first plant would start operating in mid-2023.

The problem, Clarion added, has been finding a site with access to adequate power, adding that with more plants on the horizon, the company is closely watching the ongoing dispute with the US under the USMCA treaty.

Currently, Cuprum has a presence in more than 40 countries and more than 6,000 employees. It also has: 3 plants for profiles, 3 CEDIS for profiles, 78 architectural stores, a window plant, two floors for stairs and CEDIS, 3 value-added plants (FAB), 4 CEDIS for plans, a foil packaging plant and a purchasing office in China.

In 2019, the company invested 30 million dollars in the expansion of its profile plants to increase its sales in the automotive market, which currently represent 15 percent of the company's global sales.
