In 1993, the United States Green Building Council created the LEED sustainable building certification, an acronym for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design.
In Mexico, 5 corporate buildings own it, of which two are financial institutions such as Torre BBVA and Torre HSBC, and the other three correspond to multi-tenant buildings such as Torre Virreyes, Torre Reforma and Torre Reforma Latino, all of them along the Reforma submarket.
The BBVA Corporate Tower has 78,800 square meters of offices, with capacity for 4,500 jobs. According to the firm Legorreta, the building has a series of raised gardens located throughout the property and in April 2018 it obtained the LEED Platinum certification in the category of Building Design and Construction (BD+C), which is one of the most demanding sustainable construction standards in the world.

Another financial headquarters, the HSBC Tower has a construction area of 45,876 square meters and 10 parking levels with capacity for 1,129 cars. Additionally, it has a mezzanine, a central bank, offices, a corporate space for banking operations, an auditorium with a capacity of 150 people, a gym, an employee cafeteria, meeting rooms, two penthouses, a heliport, to name a few. The tower is the first to have LEED Gold Level Certification in Mexico and in Latin America.
The Virreyes Tower designed by the Mexican architect Teodoro González de León and developed by Fibra Dahnos reaches a height of 130.6 meters; It has 28 floors and 16 levels, 21 elevators and 2,238 parking spaces. In February 2016, it officially obtained the “LEED Platinum” certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.

Torre Reforma is located on Avenida Torre Reforma, designed by the Mexican architect Benjamín Romano, winner of the International Highrise Award 2018. It is 246 meters high, on its 57 levels there are offices, a commercial area and a panoramic auditorium; as well as 31 intelligent elevators and nine parking basements. In December 2016, the U.S. The Green Building Council published on its website the characteristics that officially certify Torre Reforma as LEED Platinum (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Core and Shell v2 2016.
Finally, the Reforma Latino Tower, also on Paseo de la Reforma Avenue, is a 185-meter-high building; its structure consists of steel and concrete frames that are visible on its east and west facades. Parking lots are on four levels below ground and 13 above ground; offices are located on 34 floors. In 2017, it received a Leed Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.
