The Austrian company with Korean capital ZKW laid the first stone to start its third phase of expansion in its plant installed in Guanajuato Puerto Interior, in Silao, Guanajuato.
The investment that had been announced in October of last year for 102 million dollars will generate 830 jobs, of which 127 will be for engineers, 47 for specialized technicians, 346 in operations and more than 300 for administrative and indirect personnel.
ZKW Group, with the third expansion of its Silao plant, will manufacture headlights and center bar lamps for electric vehicles and SUVs from BMW, Ford and General Motors.

Since the first series start-up in 2017, both research and development as well as production areas for headlights, fog lamps and auxiliary lamps have been set up, said Wolfgang Muhri, COO of ZKW Group.
From 2015 to 2018 the company grew continuously. In November 2019, the first stone of the second phase was laid, for the start of construction of an industrial warehouse of 19 thousand square meters.

By the year 2025, ZKW will have generated more than 2,500 job opportunities in Guanajuato. This new investment will require an expansion of 15,700 square meters in its plant.
The third phase by itself has the capacity to produce 1.5 million headlights per year, and together with the previous one, reach 48,700 square meters in production area with the capacity to produce 3.5 million headlights per year.
