Yanfeng invests 17 million dollars in a new auto parts plant in Coahuila

Yanfeng presented its investment project for 17 million dollars for the construction of a new plant in the Davisa Santa María de Ramos Arizpe Industrial Park, Coahuila, with an area of 210,000 square feet and that will directly produce 1,000 jobs.

This will represent the fifth factory in Coahuila and the sixth in all of Mexico. In this sense, Lourdes Cobos, operations manager of the company in Mexico, said that in this expansion they will produce interiors for electric vehicles, for which they have ventured into the new trend of the automotive industry.

He also shared that among his main clients is the Tesla plant in California, which they serve from their plants in the state. Locally, they are also the exclusive supplier to General Motors.

“I want to thank the support of the state authorities for helping us meet this goal. It is an important date for the division of interiors due to this injection of capital and the laying of the first stone. The goal is to start operations in 2023 and improve our sales figure, which reaches 163 million dollars a year,” added the director.

He cataloged Ramos Arizpe as one of the most important logistics and commercial centers that the Treaty between Mexico, the United States and Canada has, for which he assured that his activities will be very successful.

Yanfeng currently has the capacity to allocate 20% of its total capacity to electric vehicles; however, with this project the figure will increase until it reaches 50% of its volume.

Lourdes Cobos stated that with this step they are adapting to the new market demanded by the automotive sector, so it is necessary to have technological tools that benefit them.

"Internally we have self-driving vehicles that move our materials within the company, our lines also have a high degree of automation and that has allowed us to be constant in our inventory levels," he said.

Finally, he recognized that they are facing one of the most important challenges of the organization, since they must take great care of the design details of their products so that they are more versatile and less heavy, since the units provide better performance when they are lighter.
