Whirlpool expands operations in Saltillo and invests $ 120 million

The global manufacturer of kitchen and laundry appliances Whirlpool will invest more than 120 million dollars to expand its infrastructure and production lines at its plant in Ramos Arizpe, in Saltillo.

This investment will go towards manufacturing the French Door, its new refrigerator model, which is characterized by having the freezer in the lower part and multi-doors, depending on its configuration.

Juan Carlos Puente, president of Whirlpool LAR Norte, said they are committed to promoting the development of the manufacturing industry in the region.

The investment in the Ramos Arizpe plant has contemplated an increase in the production capacity of side by side (SXS) refrigerators, of around 10% as of 2022, with an investment of more than 10 million dollars, which will generate 130 direct jobs.

It is expected that in the final part of this year it will begin with the injection of capital for said expansion, concluding in 2024 to reach the amount of the remaining 110 million dollars for the manufacture of French Door refrigerators, whose production volume will be 300 

thousand units per year.

The industrial warehouse that will be built will have an area of 30 thousand square meters and will generate a thousand jobs, in addition to the 2,945 already existing.

At the end of 2Q 2021, the Solili company reported a gross demand for industrial space in Saltillo of 135.3 thousand square meters, reflecting an increase of 85.8% compared to the previous quarter.

Saltillo has maintained an excellent rate of new investments that is expected to continue throughout the year.
