Vitro will invest 120 million dollars in its plant located in Nuevo León

The Board of Directors of Vitro - a specialist glass manufacturing company - approved the construction of a third float furnace at its plant in García, Nuevo León.

The company informed the Mexican Stock Exchange (BMV) on Tuesday that it will invest approximately 120 million dollars for this work. This furnace will allow the company "to satisfy the growing market demand in Latin America and offer greater availability of products, as well as an improvement in logistics," he said in a statement.

Vitro has five business units for different industries and its products are used in:

  • Architecture

  • Automobiles

  • Perfumery and cosmetic packaging

  • Chemical industry

  • Machinery and equipment

In fact, the flat glass industry will reach a value of $ 203 billion in 2027, according to forecasts collected by Statista.

In addition, the company noted that the new float line will help it meet the commitments it has with its customers. Construction of the new furnace will begin at the end of the year.

The expansion at the García, Mexico plant will allow it to meet the growing market demand in Latin America and the United States, according to Ricardo Maiz, President of Vitro Vidrio Arquitectónico.

According to Solili, Monterrey registered an industrial demand of 56 thousand square meters at the end of May 2021. The automotive, manufacturing and retail sectors are the most active in industrial demand.
