Fourteen companies that started in the automotive sector are advancing to supply the aeronautical industry, as highlighted by Alan Orozco Olvera, coordinator for the Promotion of the Automotive Sector of the Coordinator for the Promotion of Foreign Trade of the state of Guanajuato (COFOCE).

The companies Astech UAV, Harris, Horizontec, Spectrum, ATG, GPA-CEI Aeroespace, Funpreba, Noramex, Novatec León, Temaplax, Grupo SSC, Optimen, SIA Automation and SIASA Air, promote a strategy to develop the automotive sector through the migration and diversification to the aerospace sector.

Two of the 14 companies that will diversify into the aerospace sector are in the final stages of becoming suppliers to a manufacturer of aircraft seats, which they will export to the United States. Hand in hand and in conjunction with the Aerospace Cluster, there are already 14 companies that are already involved in the sector, Orozco Olvera stressed.

The COFOCE coordinator explained that in both branches the processes are the same but with different volume and mix. He explained that in the case of the aerospace market, companies require a low volume and high mix, with which the utility is greater.

“We have different processes, plastic injection components, machining components, additive manufacturing, right now we are developing two suppliers for a manufacturer of aircraft seats, they are already in the final stage and it would be a success story that they started in the automotive sector and that they are going to diversify into the aerospace sector,” he said.

Two of the 14 companies participate to supply a company that manufactures airplane seats. One of these projects involves 3 million dollars, for this year. Of 15 companies from all over Mexico, they will be selected and two of them will be from the state of Guanajuato, one in Apaseo and one in León, said the manager.

With this, the internationalization of companies is sought, since the production destined for the aerospace sector will be exported to the United States.

The manager stated that some companies chose diversification to deal with the crises that have arisen in recent months.
