Unilever invests in expanding plants in Lerma and Tultitlán

The multinational company Unilever announced an investment of 5,500 million pesos, to expand its production and export capacity, through its plants located in Tultitlán and Lerma.

According to Alfredo del Mazo Maza, Governor of the State of Mexico, this investment will culminate in 2024 and contributes to the development of new products, improvements in infrastructure and equipment, training of technical personnel, greater capacity to export food and ice cream, as well as the acquisition of technology to optimize the use of water and energy.

He also explained that this project aims to increase the capabilities of the firm, taking advantage of the logistical advantages offered by the state and will develop healthier food formulas, in support of local producers, who will strengthen their distribution scope.

The president said that in addition to the development of more natural formulas, the injection of capital will help consolidate exports to the United States, Canada, the Caribbean and Central America.

During the meeting with representatives of Unilever, del Mazo highlighted the environmental position of this company -established in our country for 57 years- by promoting the care of the natural environment and promoting the use of renewable energies, the reduction and recycling of plastics, the responsible disposal of solid waste, the sustainability of its manufacturing processes, the rational use of water or the reduction of polluting emissions.

In addition, he recognized the firm for promoting and promoting the talent of women, by taking advantage of their intelligence and ability, and for trusting them to direct their operations.

At its Tultitlán plant, it produces more than 200 ice cream, mayonnaise and dressing products, providing 812 direct jobs and 4,800 indirect jobs; while at its Lerma plant it produces 250 products, including broths, soups and atoles, providing 700 direct jobs and 4,200 indirect jobs.
