Aggressively promoting the city in sectors with greater industrial activity, such as medical devices, electronics and mobility, will be a fundamental part of the Tijuana Economic and Industrial Development work plan (Deitac) for this 2023.
The president of the business organization, Cristina Hermosillo, will seek to improve industrial promotion in the face of a favorable outlook for the city regarding the issue of nearshoring. They will boost medical device sectors, the Life Sciences market or Life Sciences, as well as the mobility sector that includes automotive and aerospace, and, of course, the electronics sector.

As part of the promotion of the city, two tours to South Korea are being planned, since due to the effect of nearshoring there are more requests from Asian companies that want to settle in this border region. On the tour to South Korea they will be accompanied by the Government of the State of Baja California, and a second will be in the company of allied business organizations from the city of San Diego, California.
The vision that drives Deitac is to take advantage of the complementary capabilities of the Mega Region, made up of Tijuana-San Diego, since together they can become a Center of Excellence for Bioindustrial and Medical Device Manufacturing.
On the other hand, he affirmed that the pandemic brought to the region, and to Mexico as a country, the issue of nearshoring, that is, that companies seek to locate their production processes close to their consumers, hence Tijuana is one of the cities that looking for Asian companies to establish themselves.

In this sense, the Deitac leader assured that Asian investors will come to know the region in order to identify the opportunities it offers, so it will be decisive to promote the sectors with the greatest industrial activity.
"We are convinced that the future of Tijuana is to continue focusing its efforts on attracting advanced manufacturing companies that allow the transfer of technology and are the basis for the future of the national export industry," he concluded.
