Because companies in the country have chosen to change their work schemes to teleworking models, Mexicans have begun to ask for mortgage financing in cities with beaches, said Bernardo Silva, CEO of Yave, a fintech focused on housing finance.

In an interview, the manager specified that just one year after the worst moment of the crisis that caused the Covid-19 pandemic, the mortgage segment that has grown the most so far this year is middle-income housing.

He argued that the phenomenon that has occurred in recent months is that people, especially young people, have begun to seek to make an investment in real estate far from Mexico City, both in new metropolitan cities and in others whose main attraction is the Beach.

"The main places where we are seeing that people have applied financing are Querétaro, Mérida, the Riviera Maya, Baja California Sur, Los Cabos and Guadalajara, in these regions it is where they have demanded a lot of credit from us," said the manager.

He pointed out that in these areas of the country, the average amount of financing that is granted to people ranges between 2 million and up to 5 million pesos, in this sense, the fintech Yave grants between 80 and 90 percent of the requested resources.
