Manuel Seañez, general director at Foundtech, explained that a digital twin is a virtual representation that contains all the properties of the elements such as areas, volumes, materials, yields and trajectories, making it possible to predict scenarios and behaviors to improve process planning and reduce significantly times and operating costs of any industry.
Digital twins have the potential to inject dynamism and growth into companies, as they are tools that can make them more competitive by identifying security risks or predicting the performance of equipment and systems, in order to schedule maintenance and repairs in facilities effectively.
Also, it is estimated that the use of this tool helps reduce machine downtime by up to 50%, according to a GE Digital report.

The penetration of digital twins in Mexico is still low, while in countries like Switzerland it is a reality; however, more and more Mexican companies are familiar with this tool and are implementing it in their operations, Seañez said.
Some benefits of digital twins in companies impact the areas of manufacturing, real estate, retail, construction and logistics, among the main ones.
“The digital twins can change the way in which companies operate and their decision making, since, with greater data collection and analysis, companies can obtain competitive advantages in their sector,” Seañez pointed out.
