Investments began to flow again in the fertile terrain of the Bajío in Guanajuato with expansions such as the one currently being carried out by Suminoe Textile, a Tier 2 supplier of leather for automotive interiors.

The company located in the Castro del Río Industrial Park in Irapuato acquired additional land where it is building a new 15,000-square-meter industrial warehouse, for which it would reach a total of 47,000 square meters, revealed the company in Japan. The new plant will house a new synthetic leather production line for automotive interior materials, where factory and warehouse spaces coexist.

The expansion includes an investment of 23.3 million dollars. The new line will have a synthetic leather production capacity of 400 thousand meters per month, which includes the production of materials for seat upholstery, car mats and floor mats. The company has 12 manufacturing plants in 6 countries: United States, Mexico, China, Thailand, Indonesia and India.

“We are expanding our sales bases and aiming for an optimal supply system around the world. As part of this, we decided to establish a new synthetic leather production line at the STM plant in Irapuato in July 2022 to respond to the expansion of the synthetic leather market in North and Central America. With this expansion we will further improve the productivity and efficiency of our operations,” the company mentioned.

The company already plans future investments at the site. “In the future, we will continue to actively invest in equipment so that we can build a production system that matches the materials we provide and continue to drive the expansion of the Group's business,” said Suminoe Textile.
