After the Super Bowl, where the new RAM 1500 REV, an electric version of the Stellantis RAM 1500, was revealed in a television commercial, the CEO of the RAM brand confirmed to the Detroit media the production of the electric pickup in addition to an investment in the Stellantis Van assembly plant in Saltillo, where the RAM ProMaster EV, a fully electric version of the commercial van, will be produced.

The Detroit News reported that CEO Mike Koval Jr. announced the electric lineup that will include the RAM ProMaster commercial truck, whose all-electric version will launch later this year 2023 at the Stellantis Van Assembly Plant in Saltillo, Coahuila, with an investment of “almost 200 million dollars in the plant”.
The investment consists of an expansion in the assembly lines and will increase the production capacity of both the combustion and electric versions of the ProMaster. With this investment, the amount accumulated in said plant exceeds 1,285 million dollars.
Previously, Stellantis had considered importing the vehicles from European plants. During 2022 in the United States, RAM sold close to 61,000 ProMaster trucks made in Mexico, 4% less than in 2021, due to problems in the supply chain of the industry. But “truck inventory has been close to zero on dealer lots,” CEO Koval said. The electric ProMaster will compete directly with the Kansas-produced Ford E-Transit.

"Demand for that van continues to be strong, both in retail and in fleets and in our small business sales channels," Koval said. 'We have so many orders that it is exceeding our capacity at the moment. We look forward to the time when we can better meet that demand and then of course help our dealers in the US build up some stock.'
The assembly plant in Saltillo is located on Carretera a Derramadero Km. 1.5, Agua Nueva-Saltillo, Coahuila with an area of 262,100 square meters, where 67,467 units were produced in 2022.
