Snapchat wants to show that it has not lost the battle to monopolize your time of use and consumption of video content against old acquaintances such as Instagram or new competitors, who have presented exponential growth, such as TikTok, and the way to make it clear is openness from its first offices in the country.
"We are opening an office because we believe that forming a local team is an important step to create culturally relevant experiences for our community in Mexico," explained in an interview with Forbes Mexico, Ana Daniela Portillo, Market Development Leader for Mexico and one of the first female employees of the new office.
The company did not confirm the investment amount or the number of places they are seeking to hire; however, Portillo assured that "we have no doubt that we will build one as we grow our business in a similar way to the expansion we have had in other markets."

Prior to Snap Inc, Portillo collaborated at the mobility firm Lime, the eCommerce company Linio, and as a business analyst at the consulting firm McKinsey & Company in Washington DC.
In addition to trying to grow the number of users in the country, Snapchat's local presence allows the company to start a series of programs and outreach with creators, institutions, advertisers, and even universities. Something very that firms like Facebook, Twitter and Google already do.
Together with the arrival of Snapchat programs, the firm is announcing a collaboration with Telcel "to optimize the experience on the operator's network, in addition to creating attractive promotions for local Snapchatters." And with Mexican universities in order to have “representatives” that promote the use of the platform, the program known as Campus Rep begins with the UNAM, Faculty of Arts and Design, UAM, Azcapotzalco Unit, IBERO, Design Department and the Anáhuac University , Faculty of Design.
