Siemens, developer of software technology and industrial automation, launched its park for decentralized energy, a new photovoltaic energy system in its production center located in the Balvanera Industrial Area, in Corregidora, metropolitan municipality of Querétaro.
From this business unit, the firm of German origin has 1,100 solar panels to provide energy for the activities of the plant, explained the vice president of Smart Infrastructure of Siemens for Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean, Marco Cosío.
"With the installation of the solar panels, which are effectively connected to an existing power substation, around 1,030 megawatts per year will be generated," he said.

This project is part of a strategy to promote the energy transition in the state and in the country, through the model of harnessing solar resources to decarbonize the economy.
Siemens anticipates that the new energy system will reduce carbon emissions, improve its efficiency in supplying electricity and generate significant monthly savings in energy costs.
This project was developed as a solution to make the power supply in the factory more efficient, which at the same time decentralizes it and adds environmentally friendly technology.
From this plant, low and medium voltage boards are manufactured, in addition to integrating a research and development center that adds up to more than 30 years of activities. The new energy system consists of 2,300 square meters of solar panels, which is expected to generate a 30% saving in the plant's electrical consumption.

He added that this plant has a production capacity of more than 14,000 panels for medium and low voltage.
The president and CEO of Siemens Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean, Alejandro Preinfalk, explained that with this initiative the company advances in its goal, by 2030, of being one of the first large industrial companies to have a zero footprint worldwide.
To reach this goal, the firm will invest close to 100 million euros in energy efficiency projects in the company's production facilities and buildings. In 80% of German facilities, Siemens already uses 100% green energy.
