This figure exceeds the tourist currencies that entered in February and January of this year, of 799 million dollars and 934 million, respectively.

Inegi polls reveal that the country received a total of 2.3 million international tourists in the third month, above February and January. While the figure is 17% less than in March 2020, it also means the most modest setback during the pandemic.

Four out of 10 tourists went by plane, who tend to spend more money to stay longer in the country and the vast majority arrive from the United States.

The entries of Colombians, Brazilians, Venezuelans, Ecuadorians, Chileans and Costa Ricans also rose during the third month.

Canadians continued to decline due to the suspension of flights between their country and Mexico, indicate figures from the Migration Policy Unit of the Ministry of the Interior.

Last year, the United States and Canada sent eight out of 10 international tourists who arrived in Mexico by plane.
