In order to manage technological development projects, the new Sustainable Aerospace Technology Innovation Laboratory was installed at the Aeronautical University of Querétaro.
From this place, technology projects will be developed in the management of integrated systems, called GSSI or IVHM, related to the use of data through intelligent systems, to provide the industry with a diagnosis and forecast in real time, explained the Secretary of Development Sustainable (Sedesu), Marco del Prete Tercero.

In this way, the operation, reliability and maintenance of aeronautical equipment during its life cycle will be optimized.
The laboratory arises from the collaboration between the GE company and the state government; The equipment was funded through the State Program for the Development of Technology and Innovation, which in 2022 supported 12 projects in the aerospace industry.
As aviation is one of the major generators of CO2 emissions, this laboratory is expected to contribute to the design of solutions for the industry to be carbon neutral.
The general director of GE Aerospace, Andrés Soler Pérez Salazar, stated that the industry has the responsibility to mitigate the emissions it releases into the atmosphere; Therefore, the laboratory will work to generate technology to influence this problem.
From 1999 to 2022, the entity attracted almost 980 million dollars of foreign direct investment in the aerospace field, concentrating almost 50% of the total investment that this sector landed in the country, the head of Sedesu explained, during the inauguration of the new ITAS.

At a global level, he added, Querétaro has positioned itself as the fourth destination in attracting foreign direct investment in the sector. This market has been key to the growth of the aerospace industry in Mexico.
During 2022, the manufacture of transportation equipment, to which the aerospace industry belongs, reported an annual growth of 15% in the state, according to Sedesu.
