The outlook clears up in the housing sector

Despite the effects of the pandemic caused by the emergence of COVID-19, the placement of loans for new and used housing has not been affected and, on the contrary, the request for workers to take over their assets has increased in an important way.

The president of the National Chamber of the Housing Development and Promotion Industry, Juan Carlos Rodríguez explained that the facilities granted by institutions such as Infonavit and Fovissste have produced positive numbers in the sector.

He explained that according to the most up-to-date data from the Mexican Bank Association (ABM), from January to May of this year, a total of 219 have been placed through commercial banks, public institutes, Infonavit and Fovissste. 1,400 credits, equivalent to a variation of 24.5%, compared to the same period of the previous year.

Consequently, the economic amount reached a total of 178.5 million pesos, that is, an increase of 34.5% compared to January to May 2020.

In the case of Aguascalientes, the greatest variation was registered in terms of loans granted through Fovissste, reporting an increase of 52.5% compared to 2020, going from 318 to 485, at the cut off of May of this year.

The accumulated amount is 329 million pesos, 69%, compared to the same period last year. Through the aforementioned institution, 72% of the loans are for new housing and the remaining 28% for the acquisition of used housing.

For its part, Infonavit reports a total of 1,246 loans granted, an increase of 28.3% compared to May 2020. The amount was 1 thousand 94 million current pesos, 38% higher than the amount allocated the previous year.

The commercial banks granted financing for 3,471 homes, mostly of the popular class, although in all cases for new homes. Juan Carlos Rodríguez explained that for the second half of the year, important real estate projects for workers with the right to housing are coming, which will lead to significant growth at the end of 2021.

People perceive that it is time to get hold of their assets, also taking into account the benefits of mortgage loans, which will undoubtedly boost the mortgage sector in the country.
