Nearshoring is an opportunity that will not last 100 years, which is why we must accelerate the construction of the necessary infrastructure to take advantage of the growth opportunity, said Francisco Solares, national president of the Mexican Chamber of the Construction Industry (CMIC).

In an interview with Mariel Zúñiga on the program En Concreto Contigo, engineer Solares explained that in 2023 investments will be made in the sector, for example, the arrival of Elon Musk's Tesla company, which brings with it dozens of suppliers.

If we want to have production plants in Mexico, the construction of infrastructure must be accelerated to address nearshoring, in 2023 contracts were closed, now it will be built, “investment in construction will be significantly noticed in 2024,” assured the president of the CMIC.

"Government policies are needed to create the necessary conditions to quickly, transparently and economically build the basic infrastructure that the country needs," said Solares.

Hence, he insisted that the construction sector has to plan long term for 20 or 30 years, to know where it will be built and create conditions.
