The manufacturing and construction sectors have driven the growth of Nuevo León during 2021, mainly due to external demand.
According to the Quarterly Indicator of State Economic Activity (ITAEE) of the INEGI, as of the second quarter of the year, economic activity shows a growth of 26.4% with respect to the same period of the previous year, thus having reached the same level of economic activity observed before the start of the health contingency.
Seen by sectors, manufacturing shows a growth of 47.4%, construction 30.7%, and services activities 20.4 percent.
In this way, growth for 2021 is estimated to close between 7.1% and 8.5% for the state, highlighted by the Ministry of Economy in the entity, through an analysis of the situation.

Parallel to this, he said that at the national level, the timely estimate of GDP for the third quarter shows a growth of 4.8% compared to the previous year and 6.4% growth from January to September compared to the same period of 2020.
"As in the state, at the national level, manufacturing has been the sector that is driving the economy," he stressed.
Although the progress is important, he acknowledged that after a rebound in employment lost to the health contingency last year, the manufacturing sector could see a slowdown due to its seasonality at the end of the year, setbacks in supply chains and a slowdown in external demand.

While on construction, he said that it showed a marginal growth of 0.6% in 2021, according to the National Survey of Construction Companies (ENEC) of the INEGI in August, so taking the ITAEE Indicator as a reference, the sector still it does not recover from the fall recorded the previous year.
Despite having generated jobs so far this year, its level of activity is still below the levels prior to the health contingency, he admitted.
Currently, the participation of the private sector in construction reaches 85.3% in the state, while the public sector has registered a constant fall in its participation in the last 7 years, until last year when registering growth, thus increasing its participation 13.1 % in 2020 to 15.8% as of August of this year, since private construction continues to show a decrease in its activity, contrary to public construction.
