The start of this project received citizen protests and a forced strike due to the health contingency. But these incidents also gave him a new impetus.
After the forced stoppage due to the health contingency, the Portal Norte project once again has the green light, with the joint announcement of Fibra Uno, the first in real estate investment in our country, and AXA Seguros.
Could the project's approximate investment of 3.5 billion pesos be a message of confidence for the real estate and construction market? For Gonzalo Robina, deputy general director of Fibra Uno "we are under a new condition, which Covid left us, but we can no longer be lamenting about it and we need to move forward, attached to this new reality."

Portal Norte was conceived as a mixed multiple-use project, conceptualized as a shopping center, offices and a hotel, but, Robina details, “now it will have a twist and it will be a shopping center, a hospital and a tower for medical offices or clinics.”
The development will have a gross leasable area of 66,000 m2, divided into approximately 25,000 for commercial spaces, 16,000 for medical offices, and 25,000 for the hospital.
The combination arose as a result of the same needs generated by the contingency, says the general director of FUNO “it was what we learned from the pandemic, the lack of hospital and medical infrastructure in the country was very clear. In addition, the formula has already been successfully tested in the Mitikah tower”.

This new strategy joins the office reconversion plan announced by the Mexico City government, in which Funo participates with more than 120,000 m2 of offices for hospitals, corresponding, says Robina, “to 10% of our office portfolio , and equivalent to the surface of the Torre Mayor and the Torre Diana”.
The Portal Norte project, which is being carried out in Ciudad Satélite, municipality of Naucalpan, State of Mexico, includes LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) and/or EDGE (Excellence in Design for Greater Efficiencies) certification.
