During their participation in the Game Developers Conference, held on March 24 and 25 in San Francisco, California, USA, authorities from the Municipality of Querétaro met with six leading companies from the creative industries and with an international investment fund , who showed interest in investing in the city.
These approaches will allow the capital of Querétaro to create the conditions for these industries to materialize their arrival and grow in the municipality, said Luis Nava, municipal president of Querétaro, at a press conference.
He explained that Meta (owner of companies like Facebook and WhatsApp) agreed to promote public policies for entrepreneurship and support for independent developers with technologies related to virtual reality software products.

An agreement was reached with Unity, a company focused on the video game area, to create a social impact program to develop local talent.
Meanwhile, a letter of intent was signed with Streamline Media Group, a Dutch-Malaysian company that develops business and entertainment video games, to analyze the municipality as a potential investment destination for its growth in Latin America and with whom they also agreed to create training programs for promote local talent.
The same thing happened with the company Victoria VR, which develops the first multiplayer role-playing video game based on blockchain and virtual reality.
While, with Google Cloud, a platform for solutions stored in the cloud, it was agreed to search for collaboration and innovation schemes.
Finally, with Altered Ventures, an investment fund for the development of independent video game, e-sports, and augmented and virtual reality projects, it was agreed that it will be installed in the Innovation District of the Municipality of Querétaro, which will allow supporting Independent developers and local industry startups.
Marco del Prete, head of the state Sustainable Development Secretariat, pointed out that the intention of strengthening this industry in the state is to take Querétaro to another level.
In this regard, he reiterated that the capital municipality is positioning itself at the forefront of these innovations, which is reflected in the investment interest of these companies.
"There are seven companies that are going to start investing in training so that this talent stays in the state."

Through a video broadcast at the meeting with the media, Mario Valle, co-founder of Altered Ventures, said that the interactive industries, the metaverse, the blockchain and video games, will be the great revolution of the coming years, for what he considered as the decision to create local talent in Querétaro was correct, through strategies based on the four E's (education, employment, entrepreneurship and entertainment).
In the press conference it was also reported that, in conjunction with Amazon's Games Tech division, next summer a Game Jam will be held in the city of Querétaro with more than 500 independent developers that already exist nationwide.
