El Economista | February 13, 2023 |

The rise of nearshoring and industrial development are emerging as two of the triggers for economic growth in Querétaro, according to Salvador Montoya García, director of Invex. Montoya said that the industry will be a preponderant element, hand in hand with the development of manufacturing real estate zones, as well as the logistics sector, economic activities that in turn would be driven by the relocation of suppliers.

"The industrial issue will continue to be the trigger, especially with this nearshoring issue, the industrial real estate issue that is the most important, perhaps, we hope that it will be accompanied by the issue of services, logistics, which is also necessary to be able to move everything that is going to come to the state, what is going to happen here, the issue of cold chains that has also been a trigger in the region for the transfer of perishable products”, he explained.

It is also expected that the growth of the state will be affected by the behavior of exports, including those of the agro-industrial sector.

After the effects of the health contingency and the resumption of activities, the service sector is seen as another of the factors that will feed the economic activity of the federal entity. In this context, the investments of companies that intend to arrive in the entity are added, which is reflected in the demand for industrial space.

One example is how attractive the state has been for installing data centers; however, he commented that alternatives are being analyzed to guarantee the electricity supply demanded by these units.

The specialist explained that in the Bajío region, to which Querétaro belongs, there is also potential for growth in the financial sector.
