Pirelli will invest 114 million euros in the Guanajuato plant

Within the framework of the tenth anniversary of the Pirelli Silao plant, the start of an investment of 114 million euros was announced, as part of the industrial plan for the cycle 2021-2022 to 2025, planning its completion towards 2023 with the aim of increasing production in the Guanajuato site.

Marco Tronchetti Provera, executive vice president and CEO of Pirelli, said that the investment confirms the strategic importance of the plant and will have an increase in production capacity of more than one million pieces, giving a total of 8.5 million tires by 2025, when fully operational.

Specifically, the production area will have an expansion of 220 thousand m2 and the products will have an improvement in manufacturing, the investment will also create 400 new jobs for a total of 3,200 employees when fully operational.

The manager mentioned that the Silao plant has made an important contribution to the success of Pirelli's global strategy, in order to become a leader in the high-value segment.

“When we chose Silao and the Guanajuato region as the location for a new plant 10 years ago, our expectations were very high. Today I am happy to say that we have achieved our goals and that the factory and the people who work there have exceeded our expectations,” he said.

In addition, he announced that the Silao plant is one of the most technologically advanced in the group and in the short term it will also house an R&D Center.

Claudio Zanardo, president and CEO of Pirelli North America, added that Mexico is a strategic area for all its activities in North and Central America and with this investment it will increase its technological and industrial competitiveness.

Located within Guanajuato Puerto Interior, considered one of the main logistics centers in Mexico, the Italian tire company opened the plant in 2012 to serve the local and North American markets.
