The apartments that the capital's government built exclusively to finance the reconstruction of buildings damaged by the earthquake of September 19 are already for sale and cost from three million to just over 10 million pesos.
Between 2019 and 2020, the administration in charge of Claudia Sheinbaum, modified the Law for the Comprehensive Reconstruction of Mexico City and the Comprehensive Plan for the Reconstruction of Mexico City with the objective of generating up to 35 percent of additional housing in reconstructed buildings.
In this way, the commercialization of extra houses and commercial premises was allowed to finance the works in the real estate. As reported by El Sol de México, Servicios Metropolitanos (Servimet) supervises this process, which was commissioned by seven private real estate companies.
Almost a year after the project began planning, Servimet published the business summary for 17 buildings. In total, they will sell 149 apartments, a warehouse, three roof gardens, 20 commercial premises and 14 offices for prices dictated by the open market.
