Mergers in the infrastructure and real estate trusts (Fibras) industry in Mexico begin to heat engines, with the first integration between Fibra Plus and Fibra HD.
On October 14, the term of the public acquisition offer (OPA) that Fibra Plus launched to acquire all the outstanding capital stock of Fibra HD on the Mexican Stock Exchange (BMV) ended.
In an interview with La Jornada, Gustavo Tomé, president of Fibra Plus, affirms that all companies are capable of generating efficiencies and creating combinations. "I would not be impressed if this was the first of more integration opportunities that may arise in the Fibras market, after 10 years of history in Mexico."

Tomé explains that the pandemic caused a temporary change in the occupation of properties over time and a permanent change in their use, so portfolios have to be rotated and made efficient, hence Fibra HD portfolios are ideal to achieve efficiency and growth.
It specifies that the value of the properties of the merged company would make it the seventh Fibra in Mexico by scale, since its total value would be 15 thousand 722 million pesos.
“Fibras are a great vehicle to invest in the stock market, because it is the professional and transparent way of managing a property and having a certificate is equivalent to the investor having a piece of joint ownership of the properties that Fibra has in your portfolio; It is a great alternative for those who want to participate in the real estate market instead of buying assets for assets ”, explained Tomé.
Fibra Plus, focused on the development of real estate projects, has added new assets to its portfolio year after year.

Today the public offering expired, so Gustavo Tomé made a call for investors to exchange their Fibra HD certificates for Fibra Plus certificates.
“As the vaccination rate increases in the country and workers begin to return to the offices, it will allow a recovery in this sector for 2022. The pandemic has created interesting opportunities in the real estate market derived from the situation and changes in dynamics of the markets, ”says Tomé.
In 2011, the first Fibra was placed in the Mexican market, allowing direct investment in this type of vehicle by the investment community. Currently, there are about 15 Fibras in the market that cover practically all the real estate subsectors.
