The Chinese automotive brand, Chirey, has been in the Mexican market for just over a year and has positioned more than 30 thousand units with 65 distributors. Given this reception, they announced the arrival of the first plug-in hybrid vehicle as part of their strategy to begin bringing electrified vehicles to Mexico.
In recent years, the automotive industry has seen an increase in electrification, as well as intelligence and connectivity. In this sense, the adoption rate of electric vehicles has grown from 3.9% in 2020 to 13.4% today. This as a result of new user demands focused on smart and sustainable features.

Automotive imports to Mexico have already saturated the ports due to the great demand that currently exists. In addition to this, there are announcements of the arrival of other Chinese brands to the country, causing this saturation even more. Furthermore, November and December are the strongest months for manufacturers, as they must prepare for a good end and start to the year.
For this reason, Chirey has confirmed the construction of its production plant in Mexican territory, although the region has not yet been defined, the team has already been in meetings with the governments of Nuevo León, Durango and parts of Bajío.
Diana Rodríguez, director of marketing and communication at Chirey México, highlighted that among their plans is to announce their assembly plant in the medium term, since they are in the market studies, analysis and meetings with governments, so they would be breaking the news to end of the year or beginning of 2024.

“It is a fact that a Chinese brand needs to manufacture in the country where it is located, the tariffs are very high, and that does not mean that the cars have a very competitive offer in terms of technology and price. However, when we have the plant and start manufacturing in Mexico, we will be able to make a better proposal," he noted.
