The raw materials marketer, Koprimo, formally began its operation in the new distribution center in Toluca, State of Mexico, which is added to the locations in Monterrey, Guadalajara and Mexicali.

Koprimo serves industries such as glass, ceramics, agriculture, mining, paper, plastic, among others, so this new location will be mainly dedicated to the storage and distribution of carbonate, bicarbonate and boron salts.

The distribution center, which was previously part of the infrastructure of a cement factory, has 40 thousand square meters (m2), eight thousand m2 of which are built, space that allows for better logistics operations.

“Toluca is a nerve center, a very important industrial center, we have some clients, in Lerma, in Toluca, like Henkel, that is why we chose this place,” Alejandro Prieto, general director of the company, told T21.

This land has 1,600 meters of railway track, which has the capacity to store up to 80 100-ton hoppers, which it receives mainly from the United States and unloads, optimizing time through the silo that has a bucket mechanism, to later take them to hopper trucks and distribute them to your customers.

Previously, Koprimo had a distribution center at the Tacuba station, in Mexico City, which had to be replaced by Toluca.

He explained that in this Mexican location the silo stands out to unload the hoppers, an infrastructure that gives greater flexibility to the operation, especially because in Tacuba it took up to a day to unload a hopper and in Toluca it is unloaded in two hours.

He commented that just to get the silo up and running it required an investment of close to 15 million pesos, since the facilities were abandoned for a long time and some mechanisms were obsolete.

In addition, the company has a track maintenance program, in which they invest, for example, in changing sleepers, rails, etc.

Given this panorama, Alejandro Prieto commented to this medium that they have plans to expand their facilities in Monterrey, the company's parent company, with a larger land to meet the demand, with an investment of between 100 and 150 million pesos to incorporate railways, and warehouses.
