The Kansas City Souther (KCS), Suministros Industriales Potosinos (SIPSA) and Transdevelopment Group (TDG) groups will develop the Central Bajío Vehicle Distribution Center (CDV), a state-of-the-art origin and destination terminal for the shipment of finished vehicles.
“The development of the CDV Central Bajío adds speed, capacity and markets. One of the objectives is to accelerate the response time of multilevel cars that make a round trip between the United States and Mexico, improving the availability of cars in the region, ”said Rodrigo Flores, vice president of automotive and intermodal for the railroad.
He also noted that unloading cars in the Bajío, near many of the assembly plants, where empty cars are needed, adds capacity and reduces congestion.
The terminal will be located 40 kilometers east of Querétaro, along the KCS main line between Monterrey and Lázaro Cárdenas, it will be built next to SIPSA's Transvase and Cross Dock terminal, the largest capacity of its kind in the net.

“This CDV also improves access to and from some of the most important markets in Mexico, such as Guadalajara, León, Querétaro and San Luis Potosí. In conjunction with terminals in Toluca and Monterrey, KCS connects a solid network of automotive terminals ”, he specified.
Also for the movement of imported cars from ports to the interior of Mexico, and the new KCSM connection.
SIPSA director Xavier Zermeño commented that at their facility in Comonfort they handle incoming parts for assembly plants through cross docks and general cargo lanes, which are also available to accommodate finished vehicles during the construction of the CDV Central Bajío.

"This terminal is a natural location to increase our capacities to include finished vehicles, right in the heart of automobile production in Mexico."
Alex MacGregor, TDG Senior Development Manager, stated that TransDevelopment has been developing facilities for finished vehicles in Mexico for nearly 30 years.
“We have always been looking for an automotive terminal site that meets all requirements, both on the grid and market side, as well as the development feasibility and local partner perspective. When we started working on the CDV Central Bajío initiative, we realized that this was the perfect opportunity, ”said MacGregor.
