Mohawk plant for vinyl flooring opens in Mexicali

With an estimated investment of 2,000 million pesos, Mohawk SPC inaugurated its plant dedicated to the production of vinyl floors in Mexicali, Baja California.

The factory has a production capacity of 120 million square feet per year and will be generating 400 direct jobs during its first stage.

Eugenio Martínez Serna, general director of Daltile México, indicated that in 2023 the second phase of expansion will be starting, in which they will be creating a capital injection for another 2,000 million pesos and 400 more job opportunities, for which they plan to become the largest vinyl flooring manufacturing unit in the Americas.

The plans for the opening of the plant had already been announced since mid-2021, and two months later than planned, it started its operations in the Ejido Puebla.

Mohawk SPC has operations in Australia, Brazil, Canada, India, Malaysia, New Zealand, Russia, the United States and Europe.

Also in attendance at the dedication ceremony were Mohawk USA President Kurt Weaver; the president of the National Index, Luis Manuel Hernández; the coordinator of Promotion and Economic Development, Víctor Hugo Delgado and the manager of the Mohawk Operations Mexicali Plant, Alejandro Mier Burnes.
