Mexico received 31 billion dollars of foreign direct investment during the first 6 months of 2024

During the first half of 2024, Mexico received 31,96 million dollars of foreign direct investment, of which only 2.9% were new investments, more than 97% were reinvestment of profits, said the Ministry of Economy.

The figure marked a historical maximum for the first half of the year according to the National Registry of Foreign Investment, the amount of foreign capital that was raised from January to June was 7% higher than the same period but in 2023.

The main investments came from companies in the United States, which invested almost 44% of the total, 4,167 million dollars came from Germany, equivalent to 13% of the total, companies from Japan reached 10% of the total, while Canada arrived to 2 billion dollars.

54% of the investment was directed to manufacturing projects such as transportation equipment, beverages, tobacco, chemicals, electronic equipment, food and metals, among other industrial sectors, the largest investments came from transportation equipment companies such as Volkswagen, Toyota, Mazda and Honda.
