The Covid-19 pandemic caused drastic changes in the activities they carry out on a daily basis for many people. Some of these changes have facilitated certain tasks such as online shopping, but others forced difficult decisions such as moving to new spaces to reduce rental costs, or change the lifestyle within the home.
Similarly, the option to work from home has given workers a new alternative to move closer to their families, return to their place of origin or even try their luck in a new city. And, according to the real estate platform Roomie, new users looking for a home have increased by 40% compared to last month (April).

In this sense, Roomie's statistics also indicate that several of these new users are looking to rent a shared room. However, this trend commonly known as "living with roommates" has shown a significant increase in prices, placing Mexico as the second most expensive country in Latin America to live under this modality, being 53% more expensive than Peru; 69% more than Bogotá; and only 2% less than Chile.
Lastly, the data presented by the platform shows that the availability of home accommodation outside the main cities has increased 35%, compared to the last quarter of 2020.
