Between January and June of this year, Mexico received a preliminary figure of 27,511.6 million dollars (mdd) of foreign direct investment (FDI), the Ministry of Economy (SE) reported on Monday.
Said amount is the net product of the difference of 33,510 million dollars registered in inflows and 5,998.4 million dollars in outflows; as well as 2,376 companies with foreign capital participation; 2,649 trust agreements; and 16 foreign legal entities, detailed the SE in a statement.

Extraordinary movements, such as the merger of Televisa with Univisión and the restructuring of Aeroméxico, were reflected during the first quarter, although the figure of 27,511 million dollars excludes these extraordinary movements, the agency said in a statement.
According to the origin of the investment, 43% came from new investments, 42.2% from reinvestment of profits and the rest was the product of accounts between companies.
The United States (39.9%), Canada (10.3%) and Spain (6.8%) were the three main countries that contributed foreign direct investment; followed by Argentina (5.9%), United Kingdom (3.3%), Germany (2.6%). The remaining 31.2% came from other countries.

The amount of foreign direct investment will be adjusted as the authorities - SE and Banco de México (Banxico) have more information. The reported amounts only consider investments made and formally notified before the National Registry of Foreign Investments of the Ministry of Economy; hence its preliminary nature and the fact that it undergoes updates.
