The National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi) released on Friday the Timely Estimate of the Quarterly Gross Domestic Product (EOPIBT) for the first quarter of 2022, in which the Mexican economy recorded its best first quarter since 2018, with a growth of 1.6% compared to the same period of the previous year.

With this, the GDP would add its fourth quarter on the rise and the best start to the year since 2018, when the economy had a variation of 1.5%.
Likewise, the Inegi reported that, at an annual rate and by economic activity, the increases were 2.1% in primary activities, 2.8% in secondary activities and 0.6% in tertiary activities.

On the other hand, the EOPIBT reported a quarterly increase of 0.9%, in which both tertiary and secondary activities advanced 1.1% and primary activities decreased 1.9% in the first quarter of 2022.
The Inegi pointed out that the estimates could change with respect to the figures generated for the traditional quarterly GDP, which will be published on May 25, 2022.
