Today there are more ways for contributing workers to access a mortgage loan, including young people, reported Infonavit.

The National Housing Fund for Workers offers from an individual, spousal or co-residential credit to acquire a home.

According to the agency, 28 out of every 100 homes are expanded. That is, they are formed by a household with parents, children or partners, but relatives and relatives join to live under the same roof.

With these new modalities, they hope that a greater number of the population, especially young people who are beginning their working life, will be interested in acquiring a property.

One of the most recent is Unamos Credits, for workers who wish to join their mortgage loans with someone else.

They can be friends, partners, roommates or anyone regardless of whether they have a legal relationship or not, which allows them to reach a higher amount for the purchase of a home.

The program only accepts the union of two loans, at the moment, to which up to 90% of the financing is given to each one, although the institute plans to expand to more than five people to add their savings.

Interested workers must pre-qualify in My Infonavit Account, have a current employment relationship and be registered with the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS).

Last year, about 40 thousand loans of this type were placed, with a spill of more than 11 billion pesos (mmdp). In June 2021, the figure was almost 30 thousand credits and more than 9 billion pesos, according to data from the agency.

It is also possible to join credits with a legally constituted married couple, through a Marital Credit.

Workers with more than one income have the possibility of adding financing with another institution, in addition to Infonavit. An example of this is the Fovissste-Infonavit loan, for those who work in the public and private sectors.

With the sum of credits, the beneficiaries will have access to a home of higher value.
