During the presentation of the 2022 International Technology and Manufacturing Fair (FITMA), various experts in manufacturing sectors in Mexico agreed during their participation that the Mexican industry will continue to grow in the coming years.

They indicated that Mexico stands out within Latin American countries for being one of the great generators of manufactured products, about 400 billion dollars annually are produced in the country for many branches of transformation, specifically metalworking, in the different industries that continue to grow and developing in Mexico.

The realignment of supply markets due, partly to the pandemic and partly due to changes in the nature of demand, towards blocks such as Asia, America and Europe, is a great development opportunity for Latin American economies.

The productive capacities of Mexico stand out in Latin America and allow a precise execution of this commercial opportunity.

Regarding the manufacture of auto parts, Mexico is the fifth largest producer with close to 100 billion dollars, from a harness to complicated safety equipment.

This industry employs about a million workers between the car and truck factories with the complement of the auto parts plants.

In Mexico, more than 1,500 auto parts factories are installed and of these, 80 percent of their production ends up in a new car factory in the United States and Canada.

Another industry that is advancing is aerospace, relatively new in Mexico, where in the last 15 years it has had a sustained growth of approximately 14 percent until 2019, despite the pandemic.

For its part, the mold and die industry is another cornerstone for all other industries to make sense. Currently, about 90 percent of the tooling for molds and dies used in the country come from exports and there is an important opportunity for growth here.

The challenge for the region is that the United States, Canada and Mexico can increase this regional content in this industry towards the construction of products that are made, so that the T-MEC once again takes the purpose for which it was built, they pointed out.
