Hybrid work models are the great challenge for business leadership
Expansión | September 07, 2022 |

Neither 100% home office, nor 100% face-to-face. Different recently published studies, among them, the Microsoft one stands out, which reveals that 50% of employees want to maintain activities at least partially in the home office.

For this reason, it is not surprising that a large number of companies are proposing hybrid work models as the solution of the future in the short and medium term. Faced with this reality, the immediate question is: Are the leaders prepared for it?

Work culture changes never come alone, they are accompanied by technological and physical changes, evaluation methods, communication, among many others.

The "technological rapprochement" tools have accelerated: Zoom, Google Meets, Teams, WhatsApp, and have improved their proposals for efficient solutions to bring work teams closer together. The options of temporary offices, shared spaces, rental of rooms for specific hours or adjusting offices and non-personalized workplaces, have made it possible to quickly adapt to new demands.

Four road maps point out the balance, among which are: choice, discipline, trust and work culture.

The choice lays the foundation for employees to improve their quality of life, which can range from divided schedules to longer hours with days off or the possibility of sharing a home and office as a place to carry out work. In short, the important thing is to understand needs, adapt and reach mutual agreements.

Discipline is also key for the system to work for both parties, and where the deliverables of the collaborators on a weekly, fortnightly and monthly basis must be very clear, in addition to the KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) expected from this hybrid model. For this it is vital that the expected results are given.

Trust is the third map and it is made easier by the multiple Apps that help control who is working and where from their smartphones (Factorial or Teramind, to mention a few), although nothing replaces face-to-face or remote feedback.

Finally, the Work Culture must be clearly and correctly transmitted so that the entire company is aligned, knowing the global and strategic objectives of the organization and being perfectly understood by its collaborators so that, regardless of which trench each collaborator works from, their contribution is clear. to said strategy.

Business leaders need to make sure things like this are built regardless of whether you do it from home, office or from an internet cafe.
