The automotive industry is strengthened in Coahuila with the future production of electric cars, for which the company LG-Magna e-Powertrain, LG-Electronics and International Inc. begin the construction of their new plant in the Santa María Industrial Park.

The company seeks to produce integrated motors and chargers for General Motors' electric vehicle production. Directors of LG-MAGNA and General Motors expressed their gratitude to the authorities of Coahuila, Ramos Arizpe and Saltillo for the facilities for the start of construction of the company's new plant.

For his part, Miguel Riquelme, governor of Coahuila, expressed that with the creation of this plant, Coahuila is consolidated as the best destination to invest, at the time of extending his congratulations to LG-Magna.

"The joint investment between LG and Magna Powertrain is of the utmost importance for the State because both companies represent for Coahuila the guarantee of facing the new challenges that arise at a global level in the energy issue," said the state president.

The governor reiterated his support for the company to have all the facilities and increase its development in Coahuila.

“Here you will find tranquility and social peace. The bet that the LG-Magna company applies to the entity will be in reciprocity”, he said. It is expected that with the creation of this plant, more than 400 direct jobs can be generated.

Riquelme Solís added that despite the difficulties caused by the pandemic, the state's automotive industry remains an example of dynamism and the development of competitiveness.

In that sense, he recounted the scope of the automotive sector in Coahuila, where, he emphasized, last year more than 364 thousand light vehicles were manufactured and more than 8 billion dollars derived from the manufacture of transportation equipment were registered.
