Infonavit restructures loans in Minimum Wages to Pesos

Infonavit plans to launch an ambitious loan restructuring program, which seeks to convert all current loans that are still at minimum wages and transfer them to a peso scheme.

By participating in the 124th Ordinary General Assembly of the organization, Carlos Martínez Velázquez, general director of Infonavit. He pointed out that the goal is to restructure 3 million loans granted by Infonavit in times of minimum wages and migrate them to a peso scheme.

The Director General of Infonavit stressed that the intention will be to set up a one-stop shop, so that every worker who has a loan at times the minimum wage can request its restructuring in pesos.

Carlos Martínez stressed that this measure will be the evolution of the current Shared Responsibility Program, this being one of the priorities established by the President of Mexico at the beginning of the six-year term.

“The work of Infonavit is summarized in 3 fundamental axes of what we have done. The first was to restructure the worker's debts to ease his financial burden. On February 6, 2019, we presented the shared responsibility program that has benefited 282 thousand people, with discounts on balances equivalent to 61 billion pesos, ”he explained.

Carlos Martínez recalled that various social collection schemes have been launched. The intention, he pointed out, is to help the beneficiaries to catch up and not lose their assets.

Thus, he stated, Infonavit has granted 2.8 million support to borrowers including restructuring, unemployment insurance and extensions.
