In August 2024, the timely monthly indicator of manufacturing activity (IMOAM) reached 110.5 points, which anticipates an annual growth of 1.4% in the manufacturing sector of Mexico, this indicator published by the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI).
The methodology used to generate the IMOAM is based on an econometric model that takes advantage of the administrative records of electricity consumption of the largest economic units in the country.

The main information comes from the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) and the National Energy Control Center (CENACE). It has been proven that the consumption of electric energy in the manufacturing sector is highly correlated with industrial production, which allows these data to be used as predictors of manufacturing activity.
