Construction industry grows 0.6% during August

According to the National Survey of Construction Companies or ENEC, of the National Institute of Statistics and Geography INEGI, during the month of August 2021, the construction industry in Mexico achieved a growth of 0.6% compared to the immediately previous month.

Likewise, total employed personnel increased 0.3% and hours worked increased 0.2%; while the real average wages 1.7% during August 2021 compared to last July.

In this way, the construction industry registered three months of recovery and reached its highest level in the last six months.

On the other hand, in its annual comparison, the real value of the production of construction companies registered a rise of 6.2%; while the hours worked rose 8% and both the employed personnel and the real average wages advanced 5.4% compared to August 2020.

Finally, with regard to the work carried out by construction companies, the survey revealed that the Building subsector had a variation of 2.9% compared to the same month of the previous year. Meanwhile, the construction of Civil Engineering Works reported a variation of 7.8% and the subsector of Specialized Works for Construction had a variation of 28.4 percent.
