Clúster Automotriz de Nuevo León (CLAUT), is working collaboratively with the state government and with universities to create a Center for Innovation and Technological Development for electric vehicles, as part of the strategic plans for 2025, said Manuel Valdés, president of the Group Council.
The Automotive Cluster of Nuevo León, through its Director of Innovation Ricardo Apaez, indicated that the project is in a business plan phase and it is expected to begin execution from 2022, at an estimated cost of 5 million euros. dollars, in the time horizon of five years.

The CLAUT leader pointed out that they are well prepared as a triple helix (industry, state government and universities) to create this Center, since the supply and engineering department must be prepared to generate an invoice.
Ricardo Apaez, Director of Innovation at CLAUT and General Director of the Driven Center, told El Economista that every day the development of electromobility projects is accelerating more, with more platforms in the direction of stopping producing internal combustion vehicles, a situation that is supported with COP 26.
The investment of 5 million dollars to be executed in five years, would be applied in competitive intelligence platforms, benchmark platforms, design and simulation software, technological equipment to carry out validation tests and even technological equipment to manufacture prototypes, said Ricardo Apaez.

This will give them the opportunity not only to carry out technological development of a specific component that can be sold by an assembly plant, but with this transition solutions can be developed for local markets.
For example, living in a city like Monterrey, with significant challenges related to the environment, traffic, and road safety, “we believe that we are in an ecosystem with very good conditions to generate this type of project that can be carried out in this Center. from ideas to concepts, then to prototypes and take them to short series ”, stressed the manager.
With this technological change, many components disappear, and there are new components, with a high content of electronics and software, and "we saw as an important strategy to promote from the Cluster that we have tools to support associated and affiliated companies, to find business niches in this new market ”, indicated the manager.
The innovation applies to first, second and third level assemblers and suppliers, to manufacture components and subsystems for vehicles and the entrepreneurial part is the universe close to universities with startups, scale up (when startup turnover grows 20% per year for more than three periods in a row), where disruptive ideas and business solutions are generated.
