Hutchison Ports expands its terminal in Baja California

This October 31, Hutchison Ports inaugurated the expansion of its multi-use terminal in Ensenada Baja California, a key project within a master development plan and which aimed to increase the operational capacity of one of the most important ports in the northeast of the country.

The expansion works that began in February 2023 were possible thanks to an investment of more than 2.3 billion pesos destined to expand the dock by an additional 300 meters, improving the industrial and technological coverage of the region.

According to the company, these efforts will allow for more efficient management of the growing demand for port services, while aligning with the company's global sustainability strategies, aimed at reducing its carbon emissions.

The expansion of the terminal comes at a key moment for the economic growth of northeastern Mexico, where nearshoring has gained strength by attracting maquiladora and manufacturing companies, currently more than 60% of the terminal's volume of operations comes from these industries and This figure is expected to continue increasing in the coming years.
