Hershey's invests 90 million dollars in plant in Escobedo
El Economista | September 09, 2022 |

The American company Hershey's announced that it will invest 90 million dollars for the installation of two high-tech production lines in its manufacturing plant located in the municipality of Escobedo, Nuevo León.

This expansion implies that it is possible to increase its production by 25% and generate 300 new jobs, in addition to the 2,500 already offered at the plant.

After taking a tour of the facilities, Governor Samuel García Sepúlveda pointed out that the transnationals established in Nuevo León are expanding due to the infrastructure and conditions that the state has.

He asserted that with the investment of 90 million dollars, the plant located in Escobedo could become the second largest of Hershey's company.

"We have transnational companies and it is not that only new ones arrive in Nuevo León, the best sign that they arrive is that those that are already in the state are comfortable and are expanding," he said.

"With this investment, we are likely to go from fourth to third place in Hershey's largest plants, and I know that in the future we can be the second and even the largest" globally, he added.

The State Secretary of Economy, Iván Rivas-Rodríguez, indicated that Nuevo León has the human capital to increase production and, in turn, generate the expansion of transnational companies in the entity.

"Hershey's is an example that large companies can expand and increase their production in Nuevo León, thanks to human capital, infrastructure and optimal conditions provided by the entity," said the official.

Martín Venegas Gómez, director of Manufacturing of the company, mentioned that they maintain their commitment to economic development and care for the environment in Nuevo León.

"We will continue working to continue being an exemplary company in economic, social and environmental matters. We are aware of the role we have with our people, with our community, with our clients and with the planet."

It should be noted that Hershey's arrived in Nuevo León in 2008. From the plant in Escobedo, the fourth largest in the world, it manufactures 311 products through 14 molding and packaging lines, which it exports mainly to the United States and Canada.
