Henkel will invest 840 million pesos in its new Distribution Center in Toluca

In recent years, Henkel has generated constant growth in Mexico, which caused its needs to grow, so it decided to invest about 840 million pesos over 10 years, in the creation of its new Distribution Center located in Toluca.

The leading German company in the manufacture of consumer and industrial products, developed this storage and distribution complex for the Laundry & Home Care businesses, as well as for Henkel's Beauty Care consumer area, it will allow to obtain operational efficiencies by concentrating on one place all the company's inventories.

The facilities will have new automatic unloading equipment, warehouse management software and electric forklifts, among other technological innovations, which will improve warehouse efficiency, reduce the period between order arrival and delivery, mitigate complexity in processes. within the warehouse, as well as being more environmentally friendly.

In addition to the construction of this large warehouse, significant investments were made in WMS (Warehouse Management System) systems, as well as in new platforms and 30,000 new racks that will allow reaching a total capacity of 80,000 "pallet positions" in the first phase.

For this, they will allocate 86 thousand square meters of floor space required not only to locate the platforms, but for their own operation.

Valentín López, president of Henkel in Mexico, commented that the opening of the Distribution Center represents a great achievement for the company, because it will allow them to provide a precise and excellent service to all their customers in the market, and will also encourage them to continue supporting business growth in the country, through job creation.

Today, global supply chains play a critical role in many of the most pressing environmental situations, and as a result, companies are adopting a wide range of voluntary practices to improve their environmental footprint.

David Maldonado, director of Supply Operations in Mexico and Supply Planning at Henkel Latin America, stated that with this new facility they established sustainability in all processes, to reduce CO2 emissions and simplify the company's carbon footprint.

“We consolidated the operation of seven warehouses in this innovative logistics center that is closer to the production site; thus, it is possible to save 220,000 kilometers. In addition, energy consumption in this new warehouse has been reduced by 30% thanks to the use of electric forklifts and LED technology, "he said.

By opening the new Distribution Center, Henkel reaffirms its commitment to society, by providing sources of employment that go beyond a specific data, but can be measured through the lives positively impacted, for example, of all those families that could be benefited with this project.
