4.7% of the country's GDP is generated by Guanajuato, the entity went from being the sixth economy to being the fifth, as confirmed by the new national GDP figures.

The National Institute of Statistics and Geography reported that there were changes in the country's economic structure, with winning sectors such as manufacturing, which went from 18.6 to 21.3% of GDP, due to the greater participation of maquila and exports.

Transport, postal and storage services also gained, which went from 6.6 to 7.2% of GDP, due to a greater weight of courier and storage of goods. On the other hand, losing sectors were construction (7.9 to 6.4% due to higher input costs), and real estate services (10.3 to 9.3% of GDP due to revision of housing stock and change in rental prices).

In the entities where changes in the participation in the national GDP were registered were: Guanajuato, Coahuila, Michoacán, Querétaro, México, Puebla, Baja California, Durango, Jalisco, Chihuahua San Luis Potosí, Colima gaining weight between the 2013 and 2018 base.

During the presentation of the 2023 Automotive Supply Forum, the head of the Secretary of Sustainable Economic Development of the State of Guanajuato (SDES), Ramón Alfaro Gómez, highlighted the importance of the role of the assembly companies installed in the state: General Motors, Mazda, Honda and Toyota, as major tractors for the development of the automotive-auto parts sector and its reconfiguration towards electromobility.

He added that Guanajuato is the first national place in vehicle production and announced that by the year 2030 more than one million vehicles will be produced in the entity that will open business opportunities.

Alfaro Gómez added that products such as: flexible sleeves, harnesses, connectors, controllers, pipes, rubber profiles, bearings, injected aluminum battery casings, electric vehicle chargers, fluid conduction systems, tires, among others, are already produced from Guanajuato. This will be benefiting the entity for the transition of the automotive-auto parts sector towards electromobility.
